About the Hunter Vincent Fishing Extravaganza
Steve and Dawn Vincent lost their 8 year old son, Hunter, in 2009 to a disease called viral myocarditis. For Hunter, it was an undetectable disease that he was born with; it only effects one in a million children. Viral myocarditis is a virus that stays in the inner lining of your heart and when it attacks, the heart stops and nothing can re-start it. At the time the disease struck, Hunter was swimming with the Cub Scouts; his Pack was Pack 3024 from Bonduel. Hunter meant the world to his family and those who knew him; in an effort to keep his memory alive and continue to help others, Steve and Dawn have started a free fishing tournament for kids.
Tax deductible donations will be raised from both businesses and individuals who care enough to help others. These folks are the angels that are among us. They make a positive difference in our communities with their generosity and kind hearts. Proceeds from the event will go to the RC Memorial.
Cub Scout Pack 3024 will be selling food and beverages; any money raised for their efforts will go directly to the Scouts.
Bent Grass, Hunter's favorite band, will be providing music. Hunter not only loved dancing to their music, but he also had stints as "security" for the band and on one occasion took over the mic and led the crowd in a rousing rendition of the ABC's. Come enjoy the sound of a fun group of guys who extend love and smiles through their gift of music.
On behalf of everyone from the RC Memorial and Hunter Vincent Kids Fishing Tournament, we would like to thank you for reading this and hope you can help by making a donation to assist families in need.

About Hunter Vincent
Hunter Vincent, An 8-year old little boy who was happy beyond words, wise beyond his years, and loving beyond explanation. A hug from Hunter wasn’t just a hug. It was a gift. So was that extra kiss he blew your way to “put in your pocket for later.” His hugs and kisses lifted even the lowest of spirits and comforted even the most troubled hearts. In his short, short life, Hunter lived fully and loved openly. Even as a child, he was a role model – to his fellow classmates and Cub Scouts, his teachers and Cub Leaders, his family, and everyone else who had the pleasure of knowing him. It only took a moment to realize the beacon of light, and life that was Hunter Vincent, a beacon that continues to shine in our hearts, our minds and our souls.
Some lessons Hunter realized and shared with others:
- There's always room in the tummy for ice cream.
- Share love every chance we get.
- There's no such thing as a bad time for a hug and a hug can never be too big or last too long.
- A smile (sometimes accompanied by a wink) is a great way to make others smile.
- Blowing someone an extra kiss for them to store in their pocket for later is a gift that’s always ready when they need it.
- The best words to end a conversation with someone you love are “I love you”.
- To make for an extra tasty PB & J sandwich, ask for “a double peanut butter and jelly”.
- Everyone has something to share…young, old, sick, healthy. Greet them with a smile, introduce yourself, and you’ll brighten each other’s day.
- Even the hottest radish, when grown with love, tastes sweet.
- Everyone deserves to be happy and loved.
- If you’ve already won a competition, it’s okay to “aim for second” because it’s nice to have others win, too. Happiness can be found in celebrating the successes of others.
The Hunter Vincent Memorial Kids Fishing Extravaganza celebrates Hunter. It celebrates his love by offering others an opportunity to experience what he loved; fishing and spending time with people, all while helping support the scouts and the RC Memorial.
A Final Thought
I took the love that was given to me
And shared it as best as I could
With everyone that crossed my path
For that is what we should.
Now God has called me home,
He needs my help you see
With my new set of wings,
I will let my love fly free.
So take a piece of it with you
And share it with all who you meet.
This world needs much more hugs and kisses,
A better place is how I want it to be.
Now go out and "Do your best."
Love, Hunter
About RC Memorial
The RC Memorial is dedicated to helping in the fight again children’s cancer. To better understand the love behind this particular organization we go back to 1999 when two courageous young boys, Ross Ambrosius and Cory Fiel, lost their lives while battling cancer. Their mothers, Jackie and Melissa, had graduated together from De Pere High School however hadn’t been in contact until they met in the hospital. After a year of trying to piece their lives back together after losing their sons, Melissa and Rob and Jackie and Joe, with the help of family and friends, put together one of the best golf outings this area has ever seen; the goal being to keep the memories of their loved ones alive while helping others who are fighting the fight. This charity event brings in thousands of dollars once a year with all the money going for the "Fight Against Children’s Cancer." Some of the money goes for research but a lot of the money goes directly to families of children with cancer.
To understand a little more clearly what these families have to endure, picture yourself in a hospital room with your child. Your child is fighting for their life and all you want do is focus on getting them better. There are a lot of burdens with not being able to work and financially staying strong. None of that matters at the time because all you worry about is your child. Thanks to the loving people at the RC Memorial, help is available. With some financial aid to get you through these rough times, you can stay focused on your child and not have the burden of everything else that has happened because of it.
